Jamaya Justice recently graduated from KIHS and will be attending Towson University, majoring in Elementary Education. It is her goal to return to Queen Anne's County and teach in one of the schools she attended as a student. She cites her mother as an inspiration to her, teaching her the true meaning of perseverance and determination. She maintained Honor Roll status for all four years of high school. She was a member of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions} and the Interact Club. During most of her years in high school, she also worked. The last year, she was employed by Stepping Stones Children Center, where she gained invaluable experience working with children. Her counselor and teacher describe her as vivacious, confident, a hard worker, responsible, passionate, and compassionate. These virtues will certainly serve her well as an educator of young children!

Averie Mortimer graduated from QACHS and will be attending West Chester University in the fall. She is an accomplished instrumentalist and theatrical performer and will be majoring in musical education. Averie tells us that “Music has always been a powerful force in my life, offering both an outlet for expression and a sense of belonging. I aspire to share that same experience with future students, helping them discover their own voices through music.” She is a member of several Honor Societies and has been a member of many organizations, including Interact and a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (2020-2023). She’s a certified Lifeguard and has worked at Camp Pecometh for the past two summers. And, if that’s not enough, she plays over 10 different instruments and has performed in four theatrical performances. Her counselor and teacher describe her as diligent, generous, relentlessly committed to improvement, accountable, driven, and a high achiever. We wish her well in her future endeavors and hope to see her as a teacher back in QAC one day!
